YOU BE THE ONE

Releasing the VOICE of the Body of Christ

A merging of TRUTH and PRESENCE outside the WALLS

CANCELLED for TODAY, due to fairly high levels of smoke in the air - September 12th // Puyallup, WA

Please signup for event specific updates.

TAKING OUR WORSHIP TO THE STREETS

It's the Body of Christ peacefully protesting our government's overreach by extending God’s presence, showing His joy, hope, and supernatural love beyond the church walls.

We encourage pastors and leaders to stand strong and not feel isolated. As we each choose to “Be The One” we hope for duplication in other areas around Washington and beyond.

This song captures the heart of what we want to display during this event.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Puyallup, WA

THE PURPOSE

To respond to the invitation of Governor Inslee for anyone and everyone to legally protest even if it is against the government.

  1. Protesting the lockdown, muzzling, and restriction of the church to gather and “freely practice religion” according to the first amendment.
  2. To demonstrate outside the church walls the hope, the joy, the purpose in our lives, and the unity of many churches gathered together.

MEETING PLACE

On the corner of Panera Bread and Shari's Restaurant, in front of South Hill Mall. We will line the sidewalk for several blocks on each side of the street. Please carpool as much as possible.

Please park in the various parking lots as far from the store entrances as possible.

SINGING AND WORSHIP

We will have words for four or five well-known worship songs on this site. Click on this site the day of the event to have the words to sing as they are played through the sound system.

WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO BE THERE

PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE

We cannot, nor do we want, to force people to wear masks or not wear them. At the same time, we want to honor the Puyallup authorities who have been working with the churches in that area for a number of years.

We do not want to offend the public or be shut down by the police for non-compliance. We recommend wearing a mask if you can, or at least bring one in your pocket in case of legal challenges to us not complying.

OUR MISSION

To bring awareness to the public of government over-reach by peacefully protesting for the First Amendment rights of the church, and to persuade legislators to honor these rights. We want to extend God’s presence by showing His joy, hope, and supernatural love beyond the church walls.

This will be seen in our faces, our worship, and our demonstration of racial and church unity. We will also encourage pastors and leaders to stand strong and not feel isolated. As we each choose to “Be The One” we hope for duplication in other areas around Washington and beyond.

No church, ministry or business will be promoted.

WHY WE ARE NOT “RESISTING GOD’S ESTABLISHED AUTHORITY”

FIRST AMENDMENT

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

GOVERNOR INSLEE'S INVITATION

I respect the right of all to gather peacefully but that destruction will not be allowed.” He went on to say, “Everyone has the freedom – and the right to demonstrate and speak their mind.”  (King 5 website, Sunday, May 31st, 2020)

Inslee said, "Peaceful demonstration is “enshrined in our Constitution; the ability to petition one’s   government for redress of grievances is actually a constitutional right and we ought to respect that and understand it in that context.”     (The News Tribune, James Drew, June 1, 2020, 4:40 PM)

GUIDELINES FOR THE DEMONSTRATION

  1. SMILE! Be very free on the street! When we sing, do it with your heart and face involved.    : )
  2. Please try to keep a 6 foot distance between you and others. The public will be offended if not…
  3. If you are holding a sign or banner stay right on the curb for visibility. If you get tired of holding it pass it on to someone else to stand at the curb. RETURN ALL THE BANNERS/SIGNS to the check-in spot.
  4. Please do not leave cans, cups, or garbage on the street.
  5. Please be patient with unexpected challenges or “surprises”
  6. If you have conversations with the public avoid politics…focus on Jesus, your testimony, on the LIFE He wants to give them. Pray for them if at all possible. Let His love come through your eyes.
  7. If you can, please do business with the restaurants on this corner today…goodwill, local love, make up for any noise or frustration! Let them know you were “one of those people”. Tip them well!
  8. If anyone hassles you; police or hurting angry people, “A soft answer turns away anger” Love wins!
  9. Revisit the website regularly to see future events:  YOUBETHEONE.COM
